Passengers traveling through Paris airports are being invited to take free, on-site cooking classes between layovers and learn how to make dishes like baked eggs and apple casseroles.

It will be a distinctly French welcome for international passengers as the smells of butter waft through the airport and greet arriving and departing guests.

Instead of wandering aimlessly through the airports and absently cruising duty-free shops, travelers – as well as those who are doing the dropping off – will be able to learn how to make dishes like baked eggs with vegetable confit, honey-glazed apple casseroles and pan-fried grapes and raisins which they can take with them afterwards.

The cooking courses are short, 10-minute recipes that will be taught by chefs from the French cooking school Atelier des Chefs.

Classes will be offered November 18-23 at Paris-Orly airport in the departures hall, and between November 25-December 1 at Charles de Gaulle’s arrivals hall in Terminal 2F.

Meanwhile Air France also uses the country’s international reputation for gastronomy to its advantage and  enlisted Michelin-starred chef Alain Ducasse to develop the food and wine menu for their airport lounge La Première. – AFP/Relaxnews

Walter Isaacson’s biography of Steve Jobs is compelling. No airbrushing of Jobs’ tyranny and tendency towards self-delusion.
